Amaziah was a miller, and his mill stood on the hill near the Orleans cemetery. He was tried, condemned, and executed for the murder of his wife. A slave of Joshua Hopkins witnessed the execution. Evidence shows that in a fit of temper he threw his wife down the mill stairs and broke her neck.

He was often listed as "Maziah Harding" in certain documents.
